Sagar Kumar Barnwal

Sagar Kumar Barnwal is an emerging sustainability professional with a strong foundation in Finance and Management, building expertise at the intersection of sustainability, ESG, Net Zero, climate and sustainable finance, and circular economy. Currently pursuing an MBA in Forestry Management at the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, he brings together financial insight, management perspective, and sustainability knowledge to address complex environmental and business challenges.

His experience reflects a combination of strategic thinking, analytical capability, field execution, and government-facing engagement. During his internship with the School of Livelihood and Rural Development (SLRD), Sagar led a Net Zero baseline assessment for the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly, evaluating energy, water, waste, and green infrastructure to identify opportunities for decarbonization and resource efficiency. He conducted field assessments, environmental data analysis, stakeholder consultations, and technical reporting, translating field evidence into actionable recommendations for institutional and government stakeholders. His contribution to government coordination was recognized through a Certificate of Appreciation, including his representation of SLRD in engagements with senior government officials and district-level administrative authorities.

Sagar has also worked with FPOs and farmer collectives in Udalguri, Assam, assessing agricultural practices, biomass resources, and opportunities for circular value creation. His work explored agricultural-residue management, biomass utilization, biochar, composting, biofertilizers, and resource-recovery pathways, with a focus on improving resource efficiency and unlocking value from locally available resources.

His training with the Goa Forest Department further strengthened his exposure to biodiversity conservation, eco-tourism, community-based resource management, and environmental field assessment.

Sagar’s technical toolkit includes MS Excel, Power BI, QGIS, Google Earth, MS Office, Tally ERP 9, WordPress, and Canva, complemented by strengths in research and analysis, data interpretation, technical report writing, Net Zero and sustainability assessment, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and stakeholder management. Certified in Corporate ESG, ESG Processes with Sustainable Technologies, and CSRD Fundamentals, he is positioning himself at the convergence of finance, sustainability, and climate action, with a focus on ESG consulting, climate and sustainable finance, Net Zero strategy, and corporate sustainability.
